Today I have a huge announcement regarding my most popular novel, Gone to See the River Man. I’ve kept this under wraps for over a year, but can now officially say there is a sequel to the novel—one you can get right now as a TRIANAHORROR.COM exclusive. The wide release is scheduled for August 1st for ebook and paperback, and an audiobook is currently in production.
Here is the synopsis:
Having escaped from prison, serial killer Edmund Cox returns to his hometown of Killen. Entering the woods with his “darlings” in his pocket, he begins a new quest along the Hollow River, hoping to make good on one final deal with The River Man.
What Edmund doesn’t realize is he’s not going alone.
Keith Drakeson is one of the police detectives who hunted Cox the first time around, and he considers the killer’s escape an insult to his legacy. Determined to capture the killer again, he follows a hunch that leads him to where Edmund grew up.
Gary Chatmon is a private investigator looking for a missing girl named Jessica Hong, who he believes was one of Edmund Cox’s victims. Jessica was writing a paper on the legend of The River Man before she disappeared.
Gary and Keith decide to team up, but they soon encounter a strange girl. June Audrey is a teenage runaway with a backpack full of articles on Edmund Cox. She too has come to these woods in search of the killer.
The three travelers head upriver, each carrying their own dark secrets as they pursue a man of pure evil, and the local legend some say is behind it all.
Along the River of Flesh is the sequel to the international horror sensation Gone to See the River Man. Picking up where the first book left off, Triana’s transgressive novel builds upon the terrifying world of The River Man, and the miserable souls who dare to find him.
Ok, so although the ebook and paperback won’t be available until August 1st, when it will be released on Amazon and other retailers, you can buy the sequel RIGHT NOW at my website in a special signed hardback edition. The bundle comes with everything you see in the photo, including the signed book and a skeleton key with a double-sided keychain that features the artwork for both Gone to See the River Man and Along the River of Flesh (art by the very talented Lynne Hansen).
The first 250 copies are IN STOCK and will ship out to customers immediately (no pre-order to worry about). So, anyone who is cool enough to order one of these packages will receive Along the River of Flesh before the wide release! There is also a bundle featuring both books together for those who want the duo in signed hardbacks.
The task of writing a sequel to my most famous book was not an easy one. I wouldn’t have done it unless I felt there was more I could do with that sinister world. I waited until I had fully realized concept of what I wanted to do next with the mythology of The River Man, as well as the further exploits of serial killer Edmund Cox and the people who are drawn to him. I had several writer friends beta read it for me, and I reworked the story many times, but the core concept always remained, and I think I’ve delivered a book that is just as transgressive and unsettling as the original. I hope readers will feel the same way.
I also want to take this moment to thank all of the fans, readers, and reviewers that helped make Gone to See the River Man the huge success it is. Every Amazon or Goodreads review, and every TikTok video and other social media posts, all help to spread the word, and the readers of the horror community have decided that this one was to be labeled a modern horror masterpiece. I couldn’t be more honored.
Gone to See the River Man made the preliminary nominations for the Bram Stoker Awards and was nominated for a Splatterpunk Award. It is published in multiple languages and I get fan mail regarding it from around the world. If the new sequel chills readers half as much as the first one did, I’ll consider it a huge success, but I’m thinking you guys are going to dig it even more than that.
To put it simply: I think this book is going to freak you the fuck out.
So, instead of an new episode of River Man Radio, this newsletter’s music section is dedicated to the official playlist for Along the River of Flesh, another soundtrack that showcases the dark blues music that helped inspire the world of The River Man. I put this playlist together for you all to enjoy on your journey back home to the Hollow River and that little, black cabin that awaits you.
And if you missed the playlist for Gone to See the River Man, you can check that one out here.
Until next time, keep reading, and I’ll see you soon on that river of flesh…
Your pal,
Kris
