Today marks the release of my 24th book, the amorous horror novella Because You’re Mine. While the paperback has been available as a website exclusive this past month, it is now available in eBook for the first time as well as in paperback on Amazon and wherever else you snag your books.
Because You’re Mine is an extreme horror romance, wet with blood and steam, it’s back arched to invite you in. Originally, it was published as part of The Dark Embrace, a limited-edition collection I did with the lovely Mona Kabbani, author of The Bell Chime and Vanilla. Now the novellas the book contained are seeing their own individual, diabolical releases.
The stunning cover art and interior design for Because You’re Mine was done by the great Scott Cole of 13Visions (author of Headless and Crazy Times).
Here is the story’s synopsis.
Bryan’s elderly mother is terminally ill, and that’s the way he likes it. Mom comes from old money, making it easy for Bryan to hire an in-home nurse, but he’s looking for someone to provide a special kind of treatment, something he’s long fantasized about.
Shelby is a nurse with a horrible secret. When she begins caring after Bryan’s mother, the two strike up an unlikely kinship, bonding over their troubled pasts and hidden desires. Together, the older Bryan begins teaching Shelby classic methods of diabolism, and she teaches him about the modern tools of their terrifying trade, making them a duo to die for.
When I call this book an extreme horror romance, I used the word “romance” in the most twisted sense possible. Think Natural Born Killers or Harley Quinn and The Joker, only more sadistic. Think Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka—the real-life Ken & Barbie Killers who raped and tortured teenage girls in the 1990s, including Homolka’s own sister. While the book has its eroticism and is about a budding romance, it is also filled with the same sort of dark, transgressive, taboo content readers have come to expect from the author of Gone to See the River Man and They All Died Screaming.
Bon Appetit.
I just returned from a whirlwind of tour weekends, signing books in Connecticut, Illinois, and Texas—with a little pit stop at The Gas Station, one of the filming locations of the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (which celebrates its 50th anniversary this October). As always, it was exquisite to meet so many of my wonderful fans. I was touched by all the homemade gifts people brought me (including a sailor hat and some biscuits for my puppy, Shadow) and was floored by the number of people who showed up wearing their Read Kristopher Triana t-shirts! Thank you all so much for your unwavering love and support! You guys make it possible for me to continue doing what I believe I was meant to do—scare the crap out of people with words.

Here are my updated tour dates for 2024. I’ll be leaving my Fortress of Solitude to visit several more states, so mark your calendars and come out to see me!

I hope you’ll make it to at least one of these signings! Yes, summer is winding down and spooky season is making its welcome return. The Spirit Halloween store nearest me is already open and a few of the trees in my neighborhood are showing some premature gold in their leaves. Autumn is my favorite time of year and summer is my least favorite, so I eagerly embrace these changes, and releasing a new book seems like the perfect way to kick it all off.
Until next time, keep reading, and try to be happy.
Your pal,
Kris
I can't wait for September 12th, so many amazing authors!
