Nineteen Hours in Hell
And other things to be excited about.
I just finished the rough draft of a brand-new horror novel. After I let it sit for a while, giving me time to come back to it with fresh eyes, there will be more punch-ups and edits, but for now I’m just excited to be finished with it. The day you complete a manuscript you’ve been working on for months is always one of celebration. Ending at over 111,000 words, this book is another thick beast. Writing is not just my profession but also my passion, so I couldn’t slow down if I wanted to, especially considering my work ethic, which keeps me from relaxing if I try to take a day off. Still, I am hoping to pen a few skinnier books next so readers can catch up.
My latest release, Music to Sacrifice Virgins To, is as long as it is vile. It’s an epic of satanic murder, with a warlock cult leader who puts Charles Manson to shame. The paperback is nearly 500 pages long. This made producing the audiobook an enormous task, but I’m thrilled to announce it’s finally available for you audiophiles out there.
The audiobook of Music to Sacrifice Virgins To is over nineteen hours long. You really get your money’s worth out of this one, provided you enjoy a front row ticket to raw, uncompromising horror of the most extreme kind. The great Chuck Brugee (who narrated my audiobooks Along the River of Flesh, They All Died Screaming, And the Devil Cried, and others) is the producer of this one, and his performance is so good it may have been recorded in Hell itself, much like the book’s titular album.

Summer is slithering forward, which means I’ve been enjoying tractor time again. The rustic pleasures of working outside, particularly following a vicious winter, is unmatched therapy. I enjoy building and fixing things with my own hands, and I firmly believe the phrase “touch grass” should be taken literally. In our high-tech world, it’s all too easy to forget the importance of connecting with the actual world around us. I’m lucky to live in the mountains of New England. The scenery is breathtaking and wildlife is plentiful. Black bears play in my backyard, as you can see in the video below.
What the civilized world destroys in me, nature heals. Every social event I subject myself to must be followed by copious amounts of outdoor solitude, otherwise my introverted writer brain cannot find the inner peace necessary to churn out another 100K novel. A bike ride, a hike, or even just a long walk, is food for my creativity. I think more writers could benefit from seeking this simple refuge. So please, go the fuck outside.
Until next time, keep reading, and take no shit.
Your pal,
Kris
