OUTLAW SHIT
Femme fatales from the author of Full Brutal. I Don’t Recognize This World Anymore is now available in paperback!
I’m known for my unhinged female main characters.
From Kim in Full Brutal to Tracey in The Old Lady, I’m proud to have created some of extreme horror’s wildest femme fatales. But now, with I Don’t Recognize This World Anymore, I’ve created not just one unhinged female character, but a whole prison full of them.
My new novel takes place in the most dangerous women’s correctional facility in America. Though Norrington is a fictional place, it is based on extensive research I did about the fucked-up world of for-profit prisons. I was excited to write a brutal story about a female penitentiary rather than the men’s ones so often portrayed in books and movies. You see, this isn’t the dormitory-style sort of women’s prison you know from Orange is the New Black. This is a vicious hellhole where the worst women in the country are housed—killers, sexual predators, child abusers, drug lords, and gang leaders.
I Don’t Recognize This World Anymore explores the darkest aspects of human nature, but while bone-crunchingly violent, it’s also a character study about how far we’ll go for the pets we love (you’ll just have to read it to understand how it does both). If you enjoyed A Fine Evening in Hell or The Ruin Season, this book is for you. Though nowhere near as gory as Toxic Love, there is a similar theme of a down-on-his-luck guy getting involved with a dangerous woman, and the twisted places that infatuation leads him.
As usual, I put together a playlist to accompany the book, so readers have a soundtrack for their journey into the slammer. It features some of my favorite songs about incarceration, including tracks by Johnny Cash, Billy Boy Arnold, Wanda Jackson, and more. There are also some instrumental mood-setters that fit the grim vibe of the story. You can check it out here:
I Don’t Recognize This World Anymore is now available in paperback exclusively on Trianahorror. As for the special edition hardback, only a few copies remain. If you preordered one, it was shipped out on May 21st. The novel will have its wide release on June 17th, in paperback and eBook, with an audiobook coming shortly thereafter. But you can get an advance physical copy straight from me right here, right now:
Here is an updated list of my book signings for 2025. My most recent one was at Barnes & Noble in Smithfield, Rhode Island, and it was a big success. Thanks to everyone who showed up and patiently waited in line! This year I decided not to do as many events as I did last year, but I’m very excited about the ones I will be attending, as they’re all fantastic shows, and meeting my readers and fans is one of my absolute favorite things to do! You guys rule so hard and I hope you’re able to make one of these so I can see your beautiful faces.
Books and Brews. August 2nd at the Wyndham Hotel in Noblesville, Indiana.
Spooktastic Book Fair. September 13th at the Framingham Public Library in Framingham, Massachusetts.
CT Horrorfest. September 20-21st at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
Some of you know I’ve been a regular guest at The Merrimack Valley Halloween Book Festival in Haverhill, Massachusetts these past six years, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to attend this year, so I’ve not committed to it yet. I’ll keep you posted!
It’s been a frigid start to summer here in New England. As I write this it’s gloomy and wet outside, with a daytime high of just 49 degrees—in fucking May! I always welcome unseasonably cold weather, but I’m looking forward to sunnier days ahead so I can put my new tractor to work on the ol’ Triana farm. As a country boy in his forties, I cannot help but get excited about a new tractor or riding mower, or any other power tool on wheels. Maybe that’s one of the reasons I drive a pickup truck. Boys are taught from birth to love this stuff, just as they are taught to love sports. While sports didn’t stick with me, a passion for terrain vehicles and tools certainly did. Isn’t it nice when your inner child can justify a big purchase as practical or a necessity? I mean, these acres aren’t going to mow themselves, right?

Hopefully the weather will clear up in time for me to enjoy Memorial Day on the John Deere with some AC/DC on my headphones. Wherever you’ll be this weekend, I hope you’ll find joy there too, be it standing before a grill, splashing in a swimming hole, or sat behind the wheel of your very own tractor.
Until next time, keep reading, and stay out of jail!
Your pal, always,
Kris
