It’s not too early to start talking about Halloween is it? I mean, it’s only four months away now. Isn’t it crazy that 2023 is half over already? With horror fans like us, every day is Halloween, so why not celebrate with a little news about the spooky season?
The last time I worked with Cemetery Dance Publications, we brought you Gone to See the River Man, my best-selling horror hit. This October, we’re joining forces again to give you That Night in the Woods in paperback and ebook. You can preorder it now on their website!
Here is the cover reveal and synopsis.
When Jennifer receives a message from Scott Dwyer after twenty years without contact, her first reaction is one of excitement. Scott was her first love, and now that she’s in the middle of a divorce, nostalgia for her youth gets the better of her.
Scott invites Jennifer to his house in Redford, the very same town she grew up in. It’s a place she’s made great effort to put behind her, for not all her childhood memories are sunny. When she accepts Scott’s invite and returns to her old hometown, she struggles with mixed feelings, especially when she learns of the death of Steven Winters, one of her and Scott’s childhood friends.
Scott invites three other people from their past to honor Steven’s memory—Corey, Traci, and Mark. But the group is more than old friends. They share a dark secret that has troubled them for decades. Now it’s time to face their traumatic pasts. Together, they must unravel the mystery of what happened that night in the patch of forest behind Scott’s house, a place once known as Suicide Woods.

I was also thrilled to recently receive a blurb from a horror author I’ve read and admired for about 20 years now. Tim Lebbon (pictured above) wrote my favorite novella collection ever, Fears Unnamed (which contains the masterpieces White and The Naming of Parts). Tim had this to say:
“Kristopher Triana writes beautiful nightmares, horrific fairytales, and intoxicating horrors, and however depraved and damaged his characters, you get to know them well … whether you want to or not.” – Tim Lebbon, author of The Last Storm
The launch of The Prettiest Girl in the Grave has gone very well! Thanks to everyone who’s been brave enough to enter my catacombs, and a huge thanks to everyone who’s reviewed it and mentioned it on social media. Ya’ll are the best fans a writer could have. The paperback and ebook are widely available now, an audiobook is on the way, and there remains just 14 copies of the limited-to-250 signed hardbacks sold exclusively through my website. That hardback also comes with a button, stickers, bookmark, and homemade charm bracelet. Get one before they’re all gone!
Before I go, I want to wish a very happy birthday to my dear friend Mona Kabbani. She is also a horror author, best known for The Bell Chime. Check out her books if you love psychological, gothic horror. Celebrate her birthday by picking up one of her titles!
Until next time, keep reading, and start planning for Halloween.
Your pal,
Kris
